DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This is very responsible specialized water pollution control plant operation work. Work involves responsibility for safe and effective production of sludge, dewatered sludge, incineration of sludge, or composting of sludge.
Duties: Duties include operating sedimentation, thickening, dewatering, incinerating, or composting equipment and processes, and assisting in maintenance and repair. This position also has the responsibility for making difficult secondary, thickening, dewatering, incineration or composting equipment operation decisions in accordance with established procedures. This work requires that the employee have good knowledge, skill and ability in sedimentation, thickening, dewatering, incineration, or composting operations.
Operates sedimentation tanks, skimming equipment, thickening controls, dewatering presses, incinerator, or composting equipment and controls, as assigned. Takes sedimentation, thickening or press readings, adjusts polymers and sludge blends, monitors burning and adjusts incinerator, or monitors and adjusts composting controls, as assigned.
Assists maintainers and tradesworkers in repair of equipment and machinery, as assigned.
May operate all equipment when assigned as a relief plant operator.
Operates all other plant equipment on a relief basis or as assigned.
Operates all equipment at a satellite plant; performs routine maintenance on equipment and assists making repairs.
May operate a front loader, as assigned.
Performs work in a safe manner and observes all safety procedures.
Uses all tools, equipment and materials responsibly and performs inspection and preventive maintenance.
Fills out job or shift report forms, or compiles plant operating data, as assigned.
Performs work or lower classifications, as necessary.
Responds to emergencies at any time of day or night, as directed.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or the equivalent plus two years of experience in water pollution control plant operations, or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience substituting on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a valid driver's license and qualify during probation for a District license. Must have a valid Connecticut Class I Water Pollution Control Plant Operator's Certificate. Must be physically able to perform the work involved. The District reserves the right to determine physical ability.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
