River Street School, Windsor, CT Position Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of River Street Schools and Programs (RSS) or designee, the Business Manager is a proactive leader across all RSS programs and is responsible for leading the finance and business logistics components across all RSS schools and programs.
The Business Manager works closely with CREC central employees to ensure accurate and timely completion of expected financial and business-related activities as well as closely adheres to CREC's corporate compliance standards and promotes its inherent mission, values, and goals.
Essential Job Functions:
Leadership and direct supervision of staff tasked with RSS payroll, purchasing, budgeting, contract development and submission as well as other office staff (including across programs), based on programmatic need, as determined by RSS leadership.
Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, and monitor annual performance of assigned employees.
Foster a program-wide culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
Maintain effective communication with a diverse team including facilities, educational and clinical staff, and other support staff.
Keep the Director informed of all critical issues.
Finance With support from CREC central, and in collaboration with the Director, develop RSS's budgets, including ongoing budget control, oversight and analysis, the management of special budget-related projects, and the preparation of budget presentation materials.
With support from CREC central, develop and revise, as necessary, individual contracts for each student across all schools and programs Develop systems to ensure accuracy of contracts and effective communication with districts with regard to contract related inquiries or concerns.
Implement a process for projecting revenue.
Regularly advise the Director of fiscal trends; assist in long-range fiscal planning for all RSS schools and programs.
Work collaboratively with CREC comptroller and business services staff.
Monitor the financial health of RSS and develop recommendations and plans for financial improvement in collaboration with the Director and CREC's Business Services team.
With the CREC and RSS leadership, work to estimate and monitor cost projections for new initiatives as well as when planning for potential areas of strategic growth Monitor and analyze the RSS's monthly operating results against the budget.
With support from the Director and other RSS leadership, assists with the optimal utilization of personnel and financial resources.
Strategic Planning Partner with the CREC and RSS leadership team to identify opportunities for process, program, and systems growth and improvement.
Collaborate with RSS leadership in the development of short- and long-range program development goals and objectives.
Direct and support the consistent implementation of program initiatives.
Additional Duties Ensure that technology systems, including those used for finance, contracting and communication are consistently utilized and effectively integrated into RSS operations.
Represent the organization externally, as needed, to government agencies, funders, partner organizations, and stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Extensive experience managing complex budgets, allocating resources, and monitoring finances.

Strong mentoring and coaching experience, ideally to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with diverse stakeholders.
Must be technology proficient with the ability to learn new workflow and business tools and systems.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
Works in a standard office environment.
Qualifications Profile:
BS degree and a minimum of five years' successful experience in accounting, payroll and budgeting, preferably in a public school setting.
CPA/MBA strongly preferred FLSA Status:
Exempt Date:
2/15/23.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
