Manages all facets of the daily clinical operations of the Pharmacy Department.
Supports and is responsible for compliance with CT Children's, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
Manages the clinical pharmacist responsibilities in the hospital and the development of clinical pharmacist services within the hospital.
Provides leadership to the department and ensures effective management of human resources and fiscal resources in accordance with current organizational policies and procedures.
Reports to the Director of Pharmacy.
Job Duties DEPARTMENT LEADERSHIP:
Establishes and communicates a clear vision for the pharmacist staff that is focused on quality clinical care and regulatory compliance, and, is aligned with organizational objectives.
The manager is responsible for fostering staff growth and development both professionally and personally.
The clinical manager should take part in engaging team members with organizational initiatives such as cultivating departmental diversity, equity, and inclusion; creating a culture of respect; and being an ally.
Establishes and implements short- and long-term goals and supporting clinical objectives, policies, processes and operating procedures to improve results and patient care within the facility Monitors and evaluates pharmacist interventions, and other measures of clinical effectiveness to continue to support the clinical development of staff within the organization Provide support, guidance, and direction to pharmacy team and ancillary support services while promoting the values of our organization and facilitates teamwork and cooperation among staff.
DEPARTMENTAL CLINICAL OPERATIONS/QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:
Coordinates, supervises, and directs clinical pharmacy programs, activities and resources in the provision of clinical pharmacy services, including, but not limited to, monitoring of drug therapy and the provision of drug information.
Ensures compliance with state/federal documentation requirements.
Works with organizational stakeholders to provide clinical pharmacy team the opportunity to create new clinical services and expansion for the pharmacy department Provide constructive feedback to team members via quarterly check-ins, annual reviews, and as needed when required to promote patient safety.
Provide clinical guidance and oversee development and revision of drug therapy and therapy guidelines Designs, establishes and maintains a pharmacist staffing plan (including staffing when required) that effectively accomplishes the department's goals and objectives.
Develops and implements cost-effective and clinically sound formulary management program as leader of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Incorporates lean processes and continual improvement pillars in clinical goal development and process design Collaborates in the development and review and development of clinical policies and procedures.
Ensures appropriate education of affected staff including organizing peer education opportunities.
Involvement in the building, support, and optimization of pharmacy infrastructure systems including but not limited to:
automated dispensing cabinets (OmniCell), sterile compounding software (Dose Edge), and electronic health record (Epic).
Provides appropriate development opportunities to ensure the clinical pharmacist staff is competent and continually improving their performance.
Demonstrates knowledge and educates others of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence.
Supervisory Duties (if applicable)Hiring, oversight, management, and development of clinical pharmacy staffCommunicates expectations, provides ongoing coaching/feedback, objectively assess employee performance and provide appropriate rewards, recognition, and/or discipline as warranted.
As necessary, develop, enact, and carry-out performance improvement plans with team members not meeting expectations Perform regular rounds with staff to enhance employee engagement and celebrate individual and/or departmental successes.
Ensures compliance with all Human Resource policies and procedures.
Manages approximately 16 FTE Pharmacists 1 FTE Assistant Manager of Pharmacy Operations On Call On call rotation with pharmacy leadership (one week of on call per 3 week period).
Education and Experience Minimum education:
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
Minimum
Experience:
Five to 10 years in a hospital pharmacy, including supervisory responsibility and pediatric experience Preferred education
Experience:
Hospital Residency training preferred.
Master's degree in management-related field is preferred.
Knowledge of:
Organizational and departmental structure, systems, workflow, and operations policies/procedures pertaining to pharmacy State/federal regulations and Joint Commission regulations that directly affect the management of the pharmacy services, documentation and patient rights.
Basic knowledge of human resource policies and procedures Skilled at:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system; Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and pharmacy information system Evaluating operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work effectively with medical center leadership and clinical staff, government agencies, physicians, third party payors.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

Current State of CT Pharmacist's license issued by the Department of Consumer Protection.
Preferred:
Board Certification in a related specialty from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties Recommended Skills Change Management Clinical Works Communication Hardworking And Dedicated Health Care Human Resources Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
