Principal Electrical Engineer

REMOTE-Principal Electrical Engineer -Permanent opportunity - Leading Energy Company- The Principal Engineer will provide technical resolution and troubleshooting guidance to plant and maintenance teams in support of emergent or on-going challenges. They will also own root cause analyses for larger issues and as a part of this derive and support implementation of corrective and preventative actions for the installed fleet. Acting as a potential mentor for more junior members of the team, the Principal Engineer will share best practices and technical expertise. Although this is a corporate engineering role, it involves extensive collaboration with sites, hence 30% travel should be expected.Electrical Design Assists design engineering team to Review/Approve Electrical System Design documents including:
One Line/Three Line Diagrams DC Control Schematics Wiring diagrams Arc Flash, Short Circuit & Voltage Drop Calculations Coordination Studies Supports development of scope of work for Electrical AE firms on projects supporting emergent needs and coordinates with suppliers and contractors as applicable Commissioning/Startup:
Provides on-site consulting/overview of equipment installation and preparation for service Supports field activities on construction projects and provides guidance on electrical design/installation issues. Troubleshooting/Problem Solving:
Provides direct Electrical troubleshooting support, or in some cases leverages outside engineering firms to support plant operations. Analyzes Electrical failure root causes and develop cost effective technical solutions. Develop and maintain technical service bulletins related to lessons learned or reliability/availability solutions/best practices; assist sites with adherence to technical standards and internal/OEM bulletins. Continuous Improvement:
Work with corporate and plant engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement and productivity goals.Position Requirements:
Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited Institution. Minimum 8
years engineering experience in electrical power distribution. PE License is preferred
Experience:
Must have experience with High, Medium & Low Voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation, preferably in large utility power plant/s or large industrial facilities Must have proficiency in understanding One Line/Three Line Diagrams, DC Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, GA drawings related to interconnections, substations, power plants and electrical aspects of process plants including but not limited to motors, MCCs, PDCs and other electrical equipment. Experience with protective relaying schemes (Medium Voltage) including coordination and development of relay settings or troubleshooting of relay related trips. SEL relays experience is highly preferred. Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data to identify trends is required. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
