Job Description:

This Research Associate will conduct analysis of the Strengthening Colors of Pride (SCoP) survey data on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) health inequities. This work will take place in the summer of 2024 and involve working with the Pride Center San Antonio on data analysis, report writing, and dissemination of findings.
This research associate is a part-time, temporary position to assist a research team conducting social science research on LGBTQ issues in South Texas.
Position Responsibilities include:
  • Analyze survey data using SPSS software to understand LGBTQ
    health.
  • Collaborates in preparing reports, abstracts, and presentations for fact sheets and , publications on survey data
  • Provides support in coordinating events, social media efforts, or other dissemination activities related to research findings.
  • Participates in relevant meetings and training sessions to stay informed and contribute effectively, including virtual meetings with the Pride Center San Antonio staff.
  • Participate in the copyediting and layout of the larger community report.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the relevant field (e.g., Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, etc.).

    Experience: Some experience participating in social science research about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) issues.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Ability to conduct social science research.
  • Familiarity with SPSS statistical software.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Experience collaborating, interning or volunteering at Pride Center San Antonio.
  • Familiarity with the SCoP 2024 or 2020 survey.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
