Summary:
The ideal candidate will be able to contribute independently within all levels of business and IT and also have the ability to lead a team(s) of Business Analysts. In addition the candidate should have recent and deep business intelligence and analytics analysis and requirement experience including but not limited to: reporting (including online dashboards), analytics, data management, and data governance. The Manager, Business Analysis plans at a tactical level, manages the effective use of resources, and directs business analysis staff to develop, implement and maintain large complex system(s) and/or project(s). Facilitates and/or participates in and has input to the continuous maturation of business analysis, requirements management and/or business architecture, and software development processes.
The Manager must be able to bring together a diverse stakeholder group, drive consensus and create a shared understanding between the customer community and the solution delivery team while maintaining alignment with Business and IT Strategies. Using knowledge of business goals, help translate strategies and initiatives into action plans with required deliverables.
This job typically manages small to moderate sized teams on medium to large sized initiatives. The Manager provides direction, coaching and mentoring to less experienced analysts.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Manages the Business Analysis tactical and operational plan for assigned business systems and/or projects of business unit significance.
Advocates for the appropriate use of process, practice and technology to develop and/or improve the organization''s processes.
Accountable for directing staff to achieve deliverables. Responsible for all aspects of the human resource management of staff.
Identify, refine, and accurately articulate the business objectives and value proposition of assigned initiatives. Bring alternative perspectives and influence consensus among stakeholders.
Ensure the solution (people, process and technology) meets the program and/or project objectives and is aligned with business and IT strategic direction. Participate in the development of a compelling business case that measures and communicates proposed project benefits.
Collaborate with project leads to determine how requirements will be approached and managed for a particular project or program.
Work with project leads to develop requirements work plans, identify task dependencies, develop estimates and determine resource skill requirements; support risk management and change management activities.
Provide support and mentoring to other analysts and team members to facilitate a better understanding of requirements techniques, processes and deliverables required to support successful project delivery.
Responsible for the success of the Requirements Definition Process for assigned work. Ensure the requirements are unambiguous and understandable by both business users and solution delivery teams. Work with stakeholders to prioritize requirements effectively based on business value, risks and constraints. Effectively identifies and manages requirements conflicts and issues to resolution. Ensure that requirements are understood and approved by all stakeholders.
Responsible for development of a staffing approach to Business Analysis work in the reporting and analytics space that considers known demand, ensures proper alignment of staff and external partners, and feeds proactive development of the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver effectively.
Measure and track quality of business analysis work.
Simultaneously support multiple initiatives as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
Typically has a Bachelor degree in Business, MIS or other related field.
5 years experience in business systems analysis or equivalent role.
5 to 7 years experience developing and supporting business technology systems in a large-scale environment across multiple hardware and software platforms, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
3
years experience in a lead role on software delivery projects.
