Claim IT Business Focused Development is a high-performing technology area that is focused on strategic application development for the Claim suite of software products.
Claim IT is in search of a self-motivated, information technology professional to join the team. This individual will be responsible for participating in and providing technical leadership and expertise to multiple applications, including application design, software development, performance, implementation, and infrastructure. This role will drive technical implementation of in house software development as well as integration of vendor purchased products.
Primary Duties:
Lead the solution design efforts for the system, ensuring that documented designs meet architectural, industry, and Claim IT standards.
Lead the Design and Development efforts, including estimation, work breakdown, and technical resource allocation needs
Engineer and integrate solutions to a point of production readiness, including all documentation, testing, deployment and support procedures to meet requirements and service levels
Ensure solution design is in alignment with Enterprise guidelines, meets business expectations, performance SLAs, architectural standards, and meets or surpasses quality benchmarks.
Lead the Build effort, including Unit and Integration testing, resulting in a high-quality code base ready for QA
Implement and enforce means to monitor code quality, including reviews and code inspection at the appropriate levels (roll-up the sleeves; trust but verify)
Deliver a working technical solution on-time at all defined phases within a project
Deliver a solution that meets functional specifications , performance SLAs, and architectural standards
Set the direction for the Development approach for the project, including tools, process, and best practices.
Provide technical expertise and coaching to the development team members
Engage and involve IT partners in the Design/Build process - including BAs, QA, Arch, and PM
Own assigned applications, including release management and infrastructure. Work closely with enterprise infrastructure support on monitoring, maintenance, provisioning, and performance.
Manage the technical relationship with a software vendor partner.
Communicate and enforce best practices, standards, and tools for Design and Build
Experience/Skills Required:
Education - Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline required.
Superior written communication, verbal communication, and facilitation skills.
Minimum of 8 years of experience with application development, specifically object-oriented programming, .NET, and SQL. Experience in application/infrastructure performance tuning.
Experience with technical project estimating, planning, and execution. Demonstrated ability to successfully drive and execute complex initiatives.
Knowledge of the property/casualty insurance business required; Claim handling experience preferred.
Experience in vendor management and working with onshore and offshore partners.
Experience in full life cycle software development using Agile / iterative development approach
Experience in test driven development (TDD)
Deep understanding of SOLID design patterns, SOA principles and its implementation methodologies
Familiarity with usability design principles
Experience in database modeling, writing stored procedures /packages
Experience in use case analysis, design analysis, UML diagramming
Experience with defining, documenting and recommending the appropriate design for application considering performance and scalability
Experience in estimating and sizing development efforts
Ability to work with onshore/ offshore model
Strong Analytical and communication skills
