POSITION SUMMARY
Provide IT Computer Services Department with technical support in the management and operation of the computing environment through the effective use of standard monitoring tools, processes and procedures needed to achieve highly available computer services in Aetnas Mainframe, Midrange, Distributed/Server, Network and Intranet/Internet WEB environments.
Fundamental Components:
Develops knowledge of application and infrastructure availability criteria while learning to identify potential impacts to the business. Maintains a high level of commitment to, and focus on, customer requirements. Develops understanding of the Change Management process as it relates to batch, online and infrastructure activities for service delivery and service support functions. Assists senior team member on complex, or independently supports less complex change activities and releases of business applications, working in concert with Production Services and/or IT representatives to ensure timely, effective installation. Responds to daily operational issues maintaining high level of standards by mitigating problems/failures and recommending proactive solutions to help prevent recurrence. Acquires basic knowledge of our computer/network infrastructure: switch technology, disk storage, mainframes, blade technology, T1 circuits, Cisco Routers, Switches, VRUs, IVRs Multiplexors, PBXs, Sonnet rings, FEPS. Data Center Environmental space, power, cooling, asset inventories. Understands the relationships related to Engineering/Production Services organizations. Activates, checks out, monitors, shuts down and recovers platforms, applications and databases. Demonstrates effective use of Mainframe/Midrange/Online scheduling tools to manage and monitor batch jobs for business applications. Proactively monitors and analyzes system events to mitigate risk scenarios and ensure stability of applications and computing infrastructure. Demonstrates and takes on an active technical role during the recovery of hardware, software or processing incidents. Develops an in-depth knowledge of techniques to diagnose and capture documentation for system and infrastructure problems. Maintains significant knowledge of Problem Management tools and assists in resolution. Develops strong communication skills used to gather and share accurate and complete documentation, communicate problem situations, turnovers and recaps to the areas responsible via Service Center (ISD), e-Mail, Symon Board, broadcasts, documents and shift notes in a professional and timely manner.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:
-2 to 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
-1
years experience in complex computing environment, with a background in mainframe, midrange, distributed, network and WEB environments.
-Demonstrated teamwork, positive attitude and good rapport with peers and customers.
-Ability to multi task in a fast paced continually changing environment
EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Associate's degree or equivalent experience.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
The IT Technical Training Program is a 24 month rotational program targeted at earlier-in-career talent. The program is focused on 3 main tracks in the Infrastructure organization: Mainframe Engineering, Security Engineering & Data Center. Rotation tracks have been developed to provide a path for members to follow as they journey towards their final placement. The paths are intended to ensure that members are exposed to the many different skills they will need upon completion of the program. Within these tracks, all program members will be supported by rotation managers as well as senior level mentors. Rotation length can vary but are typically 6 months long and all program members will go through an initial onboarding orientation as well as various core trainings throughout the life of the program.
