Summary:
BI Regulatory Affairs is seeking a dynamic individual to take a leading role in 1) implementing and validating approved rates and factors to rate, quote, issuance systems across BI Lines of Business 2) validating the implementation of approved policy forms to policy issuance systems across BI lines of business, and 3) providing subject matter expertise to the design and build of rating factor tables and rate maintenance processes used in next generation systems and platforms. This individual will be both detail oriented with a zero-tolerance for errors while also working conceptually to build new processes to foster timely and accurate rate and form maintenance and validation. This individual will work closely with product, actuarial and regulatory affairs teams as well as business analysts, platform (SCBP) and IT teams to get the changes implemented accurately and timely. This individual will be building and maintaining the necessary tools in SAS and Excel to facilitate the team-s implementation and validation efforts. May direct projects that have significant financial impact and may present to senior level management. This position works under limited supervision.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Conducts high-level, complex analysis in support of Actuarial staff. Interprets data and identifies trends. Offers recommendations and implements decisions.
Participates in discussions regarding underwriting strategy.
Communicates results and their implications to business centers.
Assists in current system critiques.
Previews, tests and recommends vendor products and data.
Coordinates with IT, overseeing the modeling, developing, testing and integrating new systems or technologies.
Participates in or is responsible for advanced projects.
Presents findings to underwriting and actuarial management.
May supervise routine actuarial functions and provides assistance to less experienced staff.
WORK
Experience:
Generally 8 to 10 years of insurance experience.
Thorough understanding of accounting principles and strong understanding of financial reporting.
Strong knowledge of insurance products and operations. Strong understanding of the interrelationships and characteristics of the various distribution channels.
Strong understanding of insurance related models (ROE, cat modeling, etc).
Demonstrated ability in actuarial and quantitative analysis and statistical concepts.
Excellent project management skills.
Strong understanding of regulatory environment.
Supervisory experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES/DEGREES:
College degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, statistics or equivalent.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Effective communication and training skills.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Excellent understanding of computers, programming, Excel spreadsheets, Word and database software.
