JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing proficient, professional, and skilled support for The William W. Backus Hospital's Meditech Client Serverfinancial applications, including HR and Payroll
PERFORMANCE / CORE VALUES
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
1. Possesses a detailed working knowledge of all of the applications within their scope of responsibility, and must possess a detailed understanding of hospital procedures and processes surrounding the use of the applications, JC AHO requirements, Patient Safety goals, and other federal and state requirements.
2. Performs first and second level support for applications. Acts as a resource to the Help Desk for escalation of complex application software problem resolution. Monitors application performance, audits applications to insure maximum usage, performs problem diagnosis and resolution, recommends policy and procedure development, and updates and maintains documentation.
3. Assists in researching emerging new applications and their relative value against competitors and the benefit to the organization. Capable of communicating application requirements to management, clinical units, physicians, and their office staff. C an assist management in running feasibility studies, FMEA studies, process studies and cost/benefit analyses.
4. Able to identify, analyze and independently develop a detailed plan to respond to individual user, departmental, and provider requirements.
5. With general oversight, is responsible for project management of multiple implementations of new application software or upgrades to existing software. Documents issues/concerns on projects and provides updates timely and in excellent written and verbal form.
6. Acts as the resource in conjunction with MIS management in the evaluation of the infrastructure for the new applications.
7. Responsible for working with the technical staff to develop a usable network design for existing and proposed applications. Will recommend, research and coordinate external technical and vendor services to be used during the implementation or support of the software.
8. Trains MIS or operational department staff on new and upgraded applications. Assists in producing procedures and policies for new software and/or methodologies. Conducts professional presentations.
9. Conducts individual application testing and integrated testing of all system functions and interfaces. Is able to write complex test plans and test scripts.
10. Participates in the maintenance of a change control system, the validation of all changes, and performing regularly scheduled audits of the hospital's systems.
11. Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, employees, and business issues.
REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Experience and/or training in Computer Science, Health Care, Nursing, Information Systems, Medical Technology, Pharmacy, or related specialty.
Experience:
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the health care industry.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Care, Nursing, Information Systems, Medical Technology, Pharmacy, or
related specialty.
Experience:
Two (2) to four (4) years of experience with Meditech Client Server applications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including
opening/reading email, basic internet use).
General knowledge of project management, analysis skills, computer systems testing and training. Expert knowledge of Meditech or
other health care application software in a health care or physician setting. Good organizational and communications skills (written and
oral). Highly motivated and able to take initiative. Ability to interact favorably with people, and work effectively as a short term team
leader and team member. Ability to communicate interpersonal and technical levels both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability
to work positively in a team environment and encourage/train other team members on process and functionality. Experience in training
and teaching. Ability to utilize various report writing tools such as Meditech, NPR, Medi solv, Crystal Reports, or other application specific tools. Ability to identify major issues for escalation to a manager or supervisor. C an solve minor problems or difficulties
independently with minimal direction
