eBusiness division is charged with developing digital capabilities across Travelers and supports enterprise web, mobile and social capabilities. We deliver digital capabilities that enable Travelers to engage in a manner that attracts customers, builds loyalty and deepens relationships while differentiating the Travelers Experience. Some examples of the capabilities supported by eBusiness include; , MyTravelers, and AgentHQ.
The initiatives in this group will employ advanced technologies and methodologies in order to deliver critical business functionality incrementally and adhering to business and technical architectural principles of reuse and multi-device deployment.
In support of the strategic initiatives the eBusiness IT division is seeking a Senior Solution Architect. The eBusiness organization is looking for a Senior Solution Architect to join their team. This individual should have a combination of hands-on architecture experience as well as solid leadership skills to support Travelers- eBusiness vision.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a large, complex business and technology environment. This individual must be recognized as a proven delivery manager, technologist and team leader, with proven experience interacting with business and technology management. Be a strong people leader, recognized for building credibility, commitment and energy within his/her team, and with technology and business partners.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
This individual will be involved at a strategic and tactical level to design, develop and implement highly complex projects supporting a business and/or technology area. The focus of this position will be around social media technology. Duties include:
- Has significant role in the creation, implementation and support of systems or applications.
- Provide solution architecture services to project teams. Solutions provided must meet availability requirements and adhere to Traveler-s standards.
- Ensure architectural compliance of solutions and introduce recommendations for changes to reference models when needed.
- Collaborate with business leaders to determine how to best use technology to enable growth and success.
- Understand potential impacts of proposed solutions on other systems, processes or projects. Articulate and document these design considerations, tradeoffs, benefits and recommendations.
- Constantly develop knowledge of current and emerging technologies. Identify new and emerging solutions, assesses their relevance and potential value to the organization and present information to teammates and management.
- Participate in the day-to-day execution of the architecture strategy
- Work across multiple projects and systems to develop, communicate, and mentor others on design and implementation standards, guidelines and bestpractices.
- Assists in the execution of departmental and corporate programs.
- Aid in steering the technology direction around the usage of social media platforms.
- Identify and consult on software practices and patterns to improve efficiency, scalability and quality.
- Adopt and communicate new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices, and technology patterns. Mentor others on these new concepts.
In addition to working with individual projects, the Senior Architect may work on a number of initiatives managed by the eBusiness Architecture office. The incumbent may participate in developing the strategy and tactics for the renovation and replacement of legacy software components as Travelers transitions to a service and process-oriented architecture. This role will work with colleagues to establish and maintain methods and best practices for software architecture, to extend and refine Travelers- reference models, and to keep current on standards, techniques, tools and enabling technologies.
Position can be located in either St Paul, MN, Hartford, CT or Hunt Valley, MD

Qualified candidates will have the following skills and
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years IT experience in enterprise, application, and information architecture design.
- Minimum of 7 years work experience in application development
- 4 year degree in related field.
- Solid Leadership skills.
- Expertise in one or more of the areas: Social Media, Analytics, UI design, Mobile technologies, Web Content.
- Experience managing the application delivery process is a plus.
- Experience in people, product and/or project management is a plus.
- Experience working in a matrixed organization is a plus.
Technical Knowledge
Has a broad conceptual understanding of capabilities and direction of technology particularly in the development of UI, back end social media and web technologies. The candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of the technology required and the needs of business environment necessary to support assigned projects. Knowledge of common social media technologies (Javascript, php, noSQL etc.) as well as familiarity with Facebook SDK, twitter API, LinkedIn API etc. are desired. Experience with mobile development is a plus; as well as the ability to quickly learn new API and platforms.
