Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a member of a team of database managers receiving guidance from the team leader. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to:
Modifies the storage structure and correlation between databases. Assists in administering multiple DBMS software designs (e.g., Oracle, Informix, SyBase, and MS-Access) in support of required functions. Optimizes the DBMS configuration by adding, removing, or relocating files and structures. Analyzes DBMS operations to identify bottlenecks and takes action to resolve problems and ensure consistency. Provides DBMS support on personnel computers, mini computers or mainframe. GENERAL
Experience:
Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. Experience:
Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 24 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic RDBMS design concepts and data management methods. Skill in applying programming methods and techniques to specific assignments. Knowledge of, and skill in backing up and recovering failed database systems. Knowledge of the operating systems and platforms in use by the customer organizations. Knowledge of, and skill in using commonly used data query languages to create data retrieval reports and manipulate data to meet the customers' needs. Knowledge of ADP standards, policies and techniques approved for use in the state. Knowledge of and skill in applying established security measures to ensure the integrity of systems. This position requires a security clearance (Secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is covered under the Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program and requires Information Assurance (IA) Technician Level II Certification. IA Baseline Certification is required within 6 months of assignment to the position. Employee will be required to maintain certification status and complete continuous education or sustainment training as required by certification. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may results in removal from this position.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
